物忘れは誰にでもあります。
眼鏡やテレビのリモコンならいざ知らず、鍵や財布、携帯などになると、生活に支障をきたしてしまいますよね。
特に鍵は小さく、失くしやすい物。家の中ならまだしも、外で落としたり失くしたりしてしまうと、合鍵もやすやすと作るわけにはいきません。
そういうことが増えてしまうと、もしかして認知症なのかもしれないと、不安になってしまいませんか？
認知症は予防をすることはもちろん、初期の対応が非常に重要なので、早く発見できるとことで進行を大幅に遅らせることができます。
今回は、物忘れと認知症の違いと、鍵を失くさないためにできる事について紹介をしていきたいと思います。

物忘れと認知症の違い
物忘れには①「生理的な物忘れ」と②「病的な物忘れ」の２種類があります。
①「生理的な物忘れ」
人や物の名前が出てこない、用事を忘れる、とっさに言葉が出てこない、置き忘れ、ど忘れのようなものです。
その場では思い出せなくても、後で思い出したり、別の機会では話す事ができます。
そのため、日常生活に支障をきたすことはありません。精神的にも維持する事が出来ており、忘れることに対しての自覚があります。
②「病的な物忘れ」
物の名前などは思い出せません。それだけでなく、時間の感覚や、今いる場所がわからなくなります。
また、以前に経験した事も忘れてしまいます。
生理的な物忘れとの大きな違いは、その自覚があるかということです。
今行っていた事を忘れてしまうわけですから、自分を省みる事ができません。
これを認知症といい、生活に支障をきたしてしまうため、医療機関への受診を検討する必要があります。
認知症とは、脳の萎縮や脳血管障害によって、記憶や思考といった認知機能が低下し、日常生活に支障をきたしている状態です。認知症には「アルツハイマー型認知症」「脳血管性認知症」「レビー小体型認知症」「前頭側頭葉型認知症」などがあり、症状も異なります。
このように、物忘れと認知症の大きな違いは、自覚症状があるのかないのかという点です。
普段から一緒に生活をしていると、色んな場面での変化にも気づけますが、別居の状態では、物忘れと認知症の違いを見つける事は困難であるといえます。
少しでも「あれ？おかしいな」と思った時には以下の点に注意してみましょう。
認知症の初期症状
認知症には①中核症状と②周辺症状の２つがあります。
①中核症状
認知機能の障害です。初期からほとんどの方に認められる症状です。
「新しいことが覚えられない」
「物事を段取りよく進められない」
「日付や場所がわからない」 などなど。
②周辺症状
中核症状に合わせて起こる様々な精神症状や行動障害の事です。
行動症状「徘徊・多動・不潔行為・収集癖・暴言暴力」など。
精神症状「不安・抑うつ・妄想・幻覚・せん妄」など。
上記以外にも様々な症状が現れますが、認知症の初期症状で現れやすい行動を紹介します。
「何度も同じ話を繰り返す」
「料理の手順がわからなくなり、味付けが変わる」
「朝と勘違いして、夜中に出かけようとする」
「趣味や好きだった物に、興味がなくなる」
「財布を盗まれた、などの物盗られ妄想がでる」
早期発見が大事
認知症の診断技術は日々、格段に進歩しており、初期の段階でも認知症の診断がつき、治療ができるようになっています。気になった場合はためらわずに、認知症専門医を受診しましょう。
病気によっては薬で進行を遅らせたり、手術で症状を改善する事もできますので、早ければ早いほど、効果が期待できます。
また、早期発見をすることで、本人や家族の悩みや不安を軽減する事ができます。深刻になる前に、医師や専門家からのアドバイスを受ける事ができ、認知症との向き合い方がわかります。
認知症の方の心境は不安でいっぱいです。その中で、家族が一番の味方になる事で、進行を防ぐこができます。
なぜ鍵ばかりを失くしてしまうのか
鍵をなくしてしまう理由はおよそ３つです。
・置き忘れ
・しまい忘れ
・落とし忘れ
これらは、私たちでも日常的に起こりえるものです。鍵にかかわらず、財布やリモコン、眼鏡等も「あれ？どこいったかな？」と探す事もよくありますよね。傘なんかも、よく電車の中に落とし忘れてしまいます。
認知症の方は、これを日々繰り返しているわけです。しかし、なくなっているものは鍵だけではありません。
そのため、認知症の方は常に何かを探し回っていることが多いです。
置き忘れやしまい忘れは、実は非常にストレスのたまるもので、段々イライラしてくる体験をしたことはありませんか？そのため、「どこに置いたの？」「なぜしまわないの？」といった事を聞くと、急に怒り出したりしてしまいます。しかしその問いかけに応えられる認知症の方はいません。
鍵をなくさないために
鍵のように小さいものは、特に失くしやすいものです。そのため、失くしにくくするための工夫が必要です。いくつか紹介したいと思います。
①かばんにくくりつけておく
鍵を持つという事は外に出かけるという事です。認知症の方は大抵、いつも同じかばんを持つことが習慣づけられています。そのかばんに鍵をくくるといった方法です。そのかばんさえもどこかに置き忘れてしまう場合は、少し大きめのかばんにしてしまう事です。その際もこちらで購入せず、一緒に選び、少しでも印象づける事が大切です。
②首にぶら下げれるよう、ネックレス風にする
鍵をなくす自覚症状がなければ少し難しいかもしれませんが、失くしてしまう事を理解していれば、間違いなく身に着けておくことができます。中には玄関のドアに引っ掛けれるように工夫している方や、玄関に「鍵置き場」と表示している方もおられます。①と同様、出かけるときには首からぶら下げる習慣をつける事も重要です。
③ＧＰＳ付きキーホルダーをつける
こちらは少し費用が掛かりますが、便利グッズとしてＧＰＳでどこにあるかを教えてくれるキーホルダーがあります。一般的に販売している店舗は少ないですが、インターネットショップや福祉用具販売店でも取り扱っておりますので、検索して購入する事ができます。
まとめ
認知症の方は、物忘れの自覚がありません。
自身で行った行動の多くは忘れてしまいます。
そのため、思い出すことができず、それを責めても、言い諭しても効果はありません。
同じ立場に立ってみるとわかりますが、物の名前が出てこない時や、どこかにしまい忘れてしまった時は、イライラしますし、焦ります。結果自分を責めたり、情けないと失望する事もあります。そんな時に安心させてくれるような言葉かけや、態度で接してもらえれば、焦りやイライラは解消できるのではないでしょうか。認知症は環境の変化やストレスなどにより進行してしまいます。関わる私たちが少しでも理解をすることで、接し方も変わり、進行を防ぐ事ができます。両親が安心して過ごせるよう、工夫できることはたくさんあると思います。
