「認知症サポーター」とは、どんな存在であるかご存じですか？認知症高齢者が増加する日本では、認知症サポーター達が、地域で生活する認知症高齢者の生活を、”そっと”支えています。

認知症サポーターって何ですか?どんなことを求められているの?
地域で生活する認知症を患う方本人や、そのご家族に対して手助けを行なう人のことを、認知症サポーターと呼びます。
サポーターは、認知症に関する正しい知識を学んでいなくてはなりません。認知症サポーター制度は、2005年に始まったもので、厚生労働省からの働きかけが発端でした。2021年末には、全国から約1360万人もの認知症サポーターが存在しています。
ここまで聞くと、認知症サポーターは、特別な技術や能力を求められているように感じるかもしれません。
しかし、その必要はありません。認知症サポーターに求められる、最も大切なことは、認知症を患う方に対し、そっと見守り、手助けを行い、認知症に対して偏見を持たないことです。
認知症の支援において、周囲が認知症に対して、正確な知識を得て、理解した上で、相手に接触することです。
また、厚生労働省の公式ページには「認知症サポーターに期待されること」とのテーマで、次の5つが挙げられています。
1. 認知症に対して正しく理解し、偏見をもたない
2. 認知症を患う方や家族に対して温かい目で見守る
3. 近隣の認知症を患う方や家族に対して、自分なりにできる簡単なことから実践する
4. 地域でできることを探し、相互扶助・協力・連携、ネットワークをつくる
5. まちづくりを担う地域のリーダーとして活躍する
この時代に認知症サポーター制度が必要とされている理由
2007年には超高齢化社会を迎えた日本。2021年現在、人口の10人に1人は高齢者です。
今後はますます高齢化率が右肩上がりとなり、2025年には約30％、2060年には約40％に達すると予想されています。このように高齢者の数が増えれば、認知症を患う方の数も増えていきます。
その一方で、高齢者や認知症を患う方の、医療・介護分野での人員は不足しています。そこで、厚生労働省は「認知症を知り地域をつくる10ヵ年」の構想を2005年4月より打ち出します。「認知症を知り地域をつくる10ヵ年」の構想のゴールとなる、10年後の2014年に焦点を合わせ、厚生労働省は、次のような到達目標を掲げました。
認知症を理解し、支援する人（サポーター）が地域に数多く存在し、全ての街が、認知症になっても安心して暮らせる地域になる
認知症を患う方の生活を、社会全体で支援・サポートすることが必要とされている今、認知症サポーターの存在は、なくてはならないものとなっています。
認知症サポーターになるには？
では、認知症サポーターになりたい場合、どうしたらよいのでしょうか。認知症サポーターになるためには、「認知症サポーター養成講座」を受講する必要があります。この養成講座のカリキュラム内容は、「認知症とはどういうものか」また「認知症の症状について」「認知症の診断～予防」「実際に認知症を患う方とコミュニケーションを取るにはどうするべきか」といった点について学びます。
90分程度の講座になっており、都道府県・市町村などの自治体や、全国規模の職域団体がこの養成講座を実施しています。養成講座の対象も、地域住民、職域、学校、広域の団体・企業等の従事者と多くの方が対象となっており、講座を受講さえすれば、誰でも認知症サポーターになることができます。
チームオレンジと認知症サポーターについて
認知症サポーターの活動に関連して、「チームオレンジ」と呼ばれる取り組みがあります。チームオレンジとは、認知症を患う方に対し、認知症との診断後から、早期に心理面・生活面の支援を行う活動です。
また、地域で生活する認知症を患う方や、その家族の困りごとに対して、支援をしたり認知症サポーターと結び付けも行います。チームオレンジの中には、認知症を患う方本人も参加することができます。
主な活動内容としては、認知症サポーター達が、認知症を患う方の外出支援や、見守り・声かけ、話し相手となったり、認知症を患う方の居宅へ出向く出前支援等があります。認知症サポーターが一方的に支援をするだけでなく、サポーターのメンバーの誰もが楽しみながら役割を果たすことを目的としており、認知症を患う方やその家族が、引きこもりがちになることを未然に予防するよう働きかけています。

When I initially commented I appear to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the exact same comment. There has to be a means you can remove me from that service? Many thanks.
