【高齢者の楽しみ】最近流行りの健康マージャン
最近はやりつつある健康麻雀というのをご存じですか？
実は今、気の合う友達同士やデイサービスのレクリエーションなどで麻雀卓を囲んだり、勝ち負けを競い合ったりと、近隣の集会所や雀荘などで麻雀を楽しむシニアが増えています。
一昔前までの麻雀といえば、
・賭け事、博打
・怖い、暗い、不健全
・初心者はできない
・一人だと参加しにくい
といったイメージが強いですよね。
それなのに流行っている理由とはどういう事なのでしょうか。
今回は「健康麻雀」についてご紹介をさせて頂きます。
目次
麻雀とは
まずは、麻雀を知らない方の為に簡単にご説明いたします。
・麻雀は中国が発祥の起源といわれる、4人で競うテーブルゲームです。（3人でプレーする三人麻雀もあります）
・麻雀卓といわれる専用のテーブルの上で、34種類、合計136枚の牌に描かれた図柄と数字を組み合わせて、「アガリ」と呼ばれる牌の組み合わせを作ります。
色んな「役（やく）」を組み合わせ、「アガリ」を作ると点数がもらえます。
そろえる「役」が難しい程、点数が高くなり、点数を競い合うゲームです。
・麻雀卓に伏せて並べた牌の山から最初に13枚を手牌として、相手に見せないように目前に並べ、順番に山から一枚引いては一枚捨てる行為を繰り返し、手牌13枚とアガリ牌1枚の計14枚の定められた形に揃える事を目指します。
・1回のプレーを「一局」とよび、誰かが「アガリ」を完成させるか、誰も完成させられなければ「流局」となり、次の局に変わります。一局ごとに「親」が順番に交代し、一人2回の親をすることで1ゲームが終了となります。（半荘戦）
・勝敗はゲームが終了した時点で、最も多くの点数をもっているプレーヤーの勝ちとなります。
簡単にいえば、レアな「役」を作って牌をそろえ、点数をたくさん稼ぎ、4人で競い合う点取りゲームと言えます。
健康麻雀とは？
健康麻雀とは、麻雀を「スポーツゲーム」と位置づけ、明るく楽しく勝負を競い合う健全な麻雀を楽しむ事を言います。
そのための3つのルールを紹介します。
・お金を賭けない
・お酒を飲まない
・煙草を吸わない
健康麻雀は、この3つのルールを守りながら、健康的に麻雀を楽しむ事です。
昔からある麻雀のイメージは、お金を賭けたり、煙草を吸ったりといった、悪いイメージが根強くありましたが、近年、このようなイメージは払拭されつつあります。
健康麻雀とは、麻雀が好きな人が「純粋に麻雀というスポーツゲームを楽しむ」ために生まれものといえます。

なぜシニアの間で流行っているの？
ではなぜ、シニアの方に健康麻雀が流行っているのでしょうか。
実際に体験している方の意見を紹介します。
① 初心者でも始める事ができる。
健康麻雀は経験、性別、年齢問わず、様々な方が楽しむ事ができるゲームです。
各地域で「健康麻雀教室」も増えてきており、講師を交え、実際にゲームをやっていく中で、基本的な麻雀のルールを身に付ける事ができます。
「役」を覚える事は必要ですが、「運」を必要とする競技でもあります。
初心者だからといっても、経験者に勝つこともできるため、ドキドキやワクワクする感覚を楽しみながら学ぶことができます。
② 勝ち負けを競い合い、喜びを感じられる。
健康麻雀はマナーを重視した健全なスポーツです。
そのため、勝っても負けても楽しめる競技ではありますが、やはり、勝った時の喜びは格別です。
お金を賭けなくても十分ドキドキ・ワクワクを感じる事ができます。
真剣に頭を使って考えるからこそ、勝った時の喜びは大きいものです。
③ 頭や指先を使うから認知症予防になる。
最近では健康麻雀が認知症予防になると、テレビのニュースでも紹介されるようになりました。
麻雀は「頭のスポーツ」と呼ばれるくらい、頭を使い考えます。
つまり脳を鍛える事ができるのです。
また、指先で牌を持ったり、並べたり、摘んだりすることで、指先の運動にもなります。
脳に刺激を送る事で、コミュニケーション能力の向上や外出する事で閉じこもり気味の生活の改善など、様々な効果を得る事ができます。
④ コミュニケーションの輪が広がる。
麻雀卓を囲むと、自然とコミュニケーションが生まれます。
その中で気の合う方や共通の趣味などがあれば、そこから新しい友人ができるといった事も多々あります。
もちろんマナーを重視していますから、勝っても負けてもお互いをたたえ合う中で、友人たちとの会話が楽しいと思える場所になる事もあります。
⑤ 老後の趣味ができる。
余暇を持て余している方ほど、健康麻雀を始められる方が大勢います。
中にはボランティアとしてデイサービスや集会所で行われる麻雀教室にも参加されるなど、楽しみ方は様々です。
現に、健康麻雀が開催されている所にはお一人で来られる方も多くおられ、女性が多いというのも特徴です。
老後の楽しみとしても健康麻雀をおすすめします。

・雀荘（じゃんそう）
雀荘とは料金を支払い、麻雀を遊戯する事ができる施設です。
「セット麻雀」では時間により料金を支払い、麻雀卓や牌を借りてプレーする事ができます。友人同士や仲間と一緒に打つことができます。
「フリー麻雀」では見知らぬ人とプレーするため、一人でも行くことができます。こちらも時間制となっています。
健康麻雀の看板が貼り出されている店舗では麻雀教室が行われている所も多く、初心者で麻雀を始める事ができます。最近は健康麻雀をテーマに運営している店も多く、ほとんどが禁煙になっています。
・健康麻雀サロン
麻雀だけでなく将棋や囲碁といった、複合的な施設として健康麻雀を楽しむ事ができます。
このような施設が今、各地域で広がっており、シニアの楽しみを提供できるところが増えております。
もちろんここでも初心者の方でも楽しめるよう、麻雀教室や、パソコン、英会話教室なども行われております。
・介護保険サービス事業所
最近では健康麻雀をデイサービス等のレクリエーションで行われている事も増えています。デイサービスは入浴やお風呂に入りにいく需要が多い中、麻雀を楽しみたいから利用するといった高齢者の方も増えております。デイサービスだけでなく、介護施設でも余暇時間に楽しめるよう、麻雀卓を置いている施設も増えています。
